Arrival in the afternoon then check in at the 4-star Superior H10 Metropolitan. Located right on the Placa Catalunya and perfect in every way, this boutique hotel is cool yet cosy. Another great option is the colourful Indigo, also in a similar location with a lovely courtyard and pool.

The evening takes us to the Gothic Quarter: a wander through the winding streets and alleys of the old town, calling in for tapas at the Bar Brutal. We bring the day to a romantic close, treating ourselves to a real flamenco show, at the Palau Dalmases palazzo, a hidden gem from the 17th century.

We explore the city by “GoCar: These funky yellow convertibles take you on the unforgettable Barcelona Experience Tour from Gaudí’s highlights to the famous Sagrada Familia, La Rambla, then on to the hill of Montjuic, where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the city, the harbour and the sea.

At lunchtime we pop in for a bite to eat to the Cuines Caterina, next to the cathedral, and the Santa-Caterina-Market halls. In the afternoon we take a stroll along the shopping route around the Placa Catalunya and relax at the hotel pool.

We begin the evening with a sundowner on the terrace of Sagardi1881 while soaking up views of the harbour. Later we take the lift up to the Torre de Altamar which offers an amazing 360°-Panoramic view of the city and a superb dinner. Great nightlife and that holiday feeling await us in the nightclubs; if you’re looking for some serious clubbing with the city’s hipster party-goers, Opium or Carpe Diem Lounge Club are located on the party mile at the beach.

In the morning it’s off to enjoy the sun and sea. Relaxing at the city beach of Barcelonetta we watch the colourful goings-on and then try out one of the many great restaurants right on the water’s edge. With its fresh and simple seafood and a patio overlooking the sea, Agua is always awesome, or maybe El Tinglado in the heart of Barcelona’s Port Olímpic with its phenomenal paella or the amazing Makamaka for organic burgers…..Then it’s time to say goodbye. We pick up our luggage from the hotel and head for the airport. Hasta la vista, Barcelona. We’ll be back.
