Just back from Hong Kong our team leader Matthias has put together some serious recommendations for the discerning Asia traveller:

Restaurants

We cannot think of any metropolis that can beat Hong Kong when it comes to fine dining! Here’s our favourite restaurants: Carbone – without the shadow of a a doubt the world’s best Italian restaurant! Then there’s fabulous Wooloomooloo Steakhouse offering a spectacular view of the iconic skyline from its popular terrace. And Zuma, a stylish fine dining Hong Kong classic. The hip afterwork crowd likes to gather in cool colonial Lily & Bloom for honest American cooking paired with a good cocktail.

Dim Sum

Among the countless great Dim Sum places in town, two stand out: Dim Sum wizzard Yum Cha, serving no dumplings but delicious little works of art, a real treat for your taste buds! And Tim Ho Wan, the cheapest Michelin starred restaurant in the world.

Bars

Here’s our selection of cool rooftop bars with breathtaking views: Incredibly chic and super glamorous, Sevva is located right in the heart of Central, the Business District on Hongkong Island. So is trendy CeLaVi featuring a spectacular rooftop terrace and a much sought afer night club. Hong Kong’s hotel bars have a lot to offer as well; make sure you pay a visit to Skye Bar in Parklane Hotel and, of course, Ozone Bar in the Ritz Carlton, where you will find yourself right on top of the world!

However, Hong Kong’s unbeaten cocktail champion remains Quinary, voted among the world’s 50 top bars for 5 years in a row!

Hotels

If you are looking for state of the art urban design spend a night or two at Mira. Like in so many other great cities, the “W” is one of Hong Kong’s top addresses when it comes to stylish five star luxury. So is Upperhouse, an elegantly understated haven in the city. For those looking for “cheap’n’chic”, we would like to recommend the Penta Hotel in Kowloon.
